Which many already know as coffee oldest Madrid celebrates its 130th anniversary decking to greet a new stage after having been closed for nearly two years. After a period of restoration of all the protected elements and conditioning of spaces to meet the safety standards required by law, commercial coffee returns while maintaining the cultural entity that has always characterized, but introducing a gastronomic offer that recovers the taste I delcarmen and adapts to each of the moments of the day.
The recovery of old awnings, the upholstery of armchairs and chairs or the elements of wood and marble care are examples of the painstaking work made by the Interior Designer Juan Luis Medina de Madrid In Love Studio to return to space the solemnity that counted.
Three distinct zones coexist in the new coffee commercial, the bar, the dining room of the ground floor and a first floor multi-purpose. Colors boiler and garnets combined with continuous terrazzo of the cafes, large mirrors, wooden tables and the flirty curtains covering the windows we receive in the room adjacent to the bar.
The top floor creates a different environment making a game of colors and textures. Renovated classical elements, original lamps and tapestry prints stand out on dark blue ceilings and walls. Complete decoration portraits of great writers who passed through there over the years, famous quotes and curious photographs of objects of the coffee that transport you to another time.
The culinary proposal comes from the hand of Pepe Roch, gastronomic Adviser to hide the Group and partner in this project, that takes command of the stoves in a bid by the return of the flavours traditional giving them a contemporary twist and the product of Madrid as the protagonist.
Two different letters, the restaurant and the bar, but with a same motto, the return to Madrid roots and the seasonal cuisine. Five sections for the restaurant: “Portions of Tavern”; “The Thoroughbred classics”; “Madrid on tenterhooks… josper!” featuring beef from the farm; the option “baked” and “La Lonja Mercamadrid” with the freshest fish of the day cooked in a traditional way.
The sweet spot comes from the hand of Berno Lazer Paryathussery, the head of pastry of commercial coffee, which has designed two letters which highlights desserts as Fran’s cheese with Parmesan ice cream, raspberry coulis and crispy cheese, French toast with Kalua liquor or the presentation of the textures of figs.
The new schedule for this new stage is from Monday to Friday from 7:30 h to 2:00, Saturdays from 8:00 h to 2:00 h and Sunday from 8:30 h to 2:00.
